“A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.”
— Proverbs 17:17 (KJV)
Good morning, God’s people. God bless us all in Jesus’ mighty name.
Somto, one of my covenant brothers, recently told me, “We should model the kind of friendship we expect from others. Whatever we want to see in and from our friends—kindness, generosity—must begin with us.”
Child of God, I tell you this morning: if you begin to focus on your own growth, effort, and results, only then can those qualities begin to flow into your friendships.
Many of us today desire things we are unwilling to give. Many only want to receive the act, but not do the act. This is a selfish mistake that is rapidly growing among individuals who call themselves friends.
How can you call yourself a good friend when, every time your friends win, you’re angry and don’t celebrate them?
How can you call yourself a good friend when all you do is find fault in everything your friends do, and never offer a compliment?
Let’s look at the life of Jonathan and David in the Bible:
• Jonathan was not jealous that the kingship would leave him and go to David.
• Jonathan protected David’s life so that he could fulfill his destiny.
• Jonathan invested in David, even at the expense of going against his own family.
• Jonathan went all out without expecting anything in return.
Truly, there is a friend that sticks closer than a brother. Are you that kind of friend?
How do you expect people to do for you what you’re not willing to do for them?
We must let go of selfish mentalities—especially as believers.
Good morning once again.
Happy Friday!
