Are You a Good Friend? (Pt. 5)

3). “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves,

4). not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.”

— Philippians 2:3-4 (NIV)

I know that God has been working on us to become better friends to others through His Word, and we are grateful to God for the growth.

Today, we continue this study: “Are You a Good Friend?” (Topic: Selfishness)

Child of God, how can it be that you want people to do so many nice things for you—buy you beautiful gifts, celebrate you, praise you, and shower you with love and kindness—but only for your benefit?

You’ve never given anything to your friends. You’ve never bought them anything. You’ve never contributed to what matters to them. You only receive.

1) Are You a Garbage Site??

I mean, at a garbage site, people only come to dump things. It smells and stinks because it gives nothing—it only receives.

So, any friend who only receives but never gives is not a good friend and will soon begin to stink in the eyes of others.

But let me tell you—even these days, at a garbage site, some things are collected and refined into something better. Yet with you, as a friend, there’s absolutely nothing you give out. Child of God, change.

Some of us can relate to what I’m saying. Be sincere—and change.

2) Are You a User??

Some of us have the habit of using and using and using—until there’s nothing of value left in a person or thing. After that, we begin to complain that the person or thing no longer has anything to offer.

This is the very wickedness we pray against in church. And if you don’t repent, we might start praying against you too.

Even the devil—yes, even the devil—gives you a finger before taking both of your hands in return. At least he gives something.

He gives you a shoe and collects both of your legs in return. Still—at least he gave something.

But you, Mr. Using Friend, you’ve never given anything.

Child of God, are you a good friend?

Repent o!

So that one day, when we’re praying, “God, erase every trash in my life,” you will not be erased o!

Because some people are nothing but trash in the lives of others.

I hope I didn’t break your table 😅

Good morning once again,

Happy Weekend!
