Be Thankful in All Circumstances.

“In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:18 NKJV

We live in a time where we often take things for granted, assuming we are entitled to certain privileges and comforts.

Could things be better for you? Absolutely, but in this moment, with what you have and the people around you, choose to be grateful.

So, what should you thank God for?

1. Thank God for the Unseen:

“Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead man was lying. And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, ‘Father, I thank You that You have heard Me.'” – John 11:41 NKJV

A woman once shared her testimony of waiting for a child. Year after year, she bought baby clothes for the child she had not conceived yet. In time, her prayers were answered, and she gave glory to God.

What are you trusting God for but haven’t yet seen? Start giving thanks now. Gratitude for the unseen reflects your confidence in God’s ability.

When God promises something, it’s already done in His timing. Sometimes, we need to wait and work towards the fulfillment of that promise.

2. Thank God for the Inadequate:

“There is a lad here who has five barley loaves and two small fish, but what are they among so many?… And Jesus took the loaves, and when He had given thanks, He distributed them to the disciples…” – John 6:9, 11 NKJV

What do you do when there is not enough? When you thank God in moments of lack, it demonstrates your trust in His provision.

Do not be like a child who only shows appreciation when fully satisfied. Even when things fall short, thank God.

3. Thank God for the Marvelous Things:

“And Miriam answered them: ‘Sing to the Lord, for He has triumphed gloriously! The horse and its rider He has thrown into the sea!'” – Exodus 15:21 NKJV

This is the kind of thanksgiving we most often practice—thanking God for the visible blessings and answered prayers.

But also give thanks for the prayers God did not answer, for the times He gave less than you asked, and for the moments He exceeded your expectations. Rejoice and give thanks always, for God is good, and His mercy endures forever. Amen.

Pray: “Father, I thank You for the unseen things yet to manifest, for the moments of inadequacy, and for the marvelous works You have done. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
