Genesis 3:1 NKJV
Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?”

God, just before he made Eve gave Adam specific instructions not to eat of a specific tree.

Genesis 2:16-17 NKJV

[16] And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat;

[17] but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”

I am sure over time, Adam must have been telling Eve, this is what God said, he said of these other trees we can eat but there is this one he said we should not touch.

Adam must have told her, my wife, till this day, I have not touched that tree, I remained faithful to that instruction, please do not go close to it.

Eve had been obeying that instruction, she will get to the tree and would not touch it, she will think of the beauty of tree and still withdraw herself but a day came when satan came to her.

Unknown to Eve, the devil is very very cleaver and cunning. When he came to Eve, he did not say “… God had told Adam not to eat of this tree but…. ” He did not also say that God did not give that instruction to Adam. He said, did God really say?

Eve thought of it with logic, it is true, this thing Adam has been saying, is it even really true? Was I there when God told him? Did God really even say anything? Am I even sure he has not been eating there secretly and decided to hide it from me?

The devil said, did God really say? He said it because he knew Eve was not there when God spoke.

Remember, Eve was not yet created at the time when Adam got that instruction from God.

Eve came right after that instruction

Genesis 2:18 NKJV
[18] And the Lord God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.”

She must have considered and considered.

The devil was only just trying to know her conviction level in God’s word.

He wanted to know how persuaded Eve was in following the instructions of God as it was given to Adam.

So satan wanted to really know, this thing Adam has been telling you about this tree, are you sure it is even from God?

Eve fell because she started to doubt the instructions that Adam gave her as he received it from God!

Anytime the devil is trying to get you to doubt the word of God that your husband has received, be aware that he wants to destroy your family.

As long as you are sure that your husband hears God correctly, please listen to him.

Eve put the priesthood of Adam in doubt, this was the beginning of her problem.

The devil did not just want Eve to disobey God, she also got her to doubt the word of God to her head.

Everything the devil does is directly targeted at your marriage. His target is your family. His target is what God has promised your heritage.

That contrary voice to that of your husband could just be the serpent and not your wisdom !

You must submit yourself to the principle of scripture in marriage, much more than your submission, it is your security!

It is not wisdom
It is not independent thinking
It may be the serpent!

Till we arrive at the point of the full manifestation of what God has said concerning us, we will continue to share some of these things as we journey.
