“He answered and said to them, ‘Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written: “This people honors Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me.” — Mark 7:6 (NKJV)
Believers today easily forget that GOD CANNOT BE DECEIVED. I know you may be saying, “I am not a hypocrite,” but let me help you understand something this morning.
There is a way you can become mindful of people, cameras, and social media rather than the Kingdom and God’s assignment, such that you begin to display the traits of a hypocrite in service.
Ask yourself:
• Do I genuinely love the Lord?
• Am I honest in my service to God?
• Even as a worker in my local assembly, am I truly who I portray to the church?
• Do I do what I do only because I want to avoid being punished?
• Is the joy of the Lord my drive, or the fear of church authorities?
Understand this: there is nothing wrong with self-assessment this morning and discovering that, in some way, you fall short. All you have to do is start again—and this time, serve genuinely as one who loves God.
There is no reward for pretending to be what you are not. There is no reward for teaching and not leading by example.
As we know, in this generation, we are the Bible that people read. We cannot afford to be hypocrites in service. Child of God, all we do should be consistent with what we believe and who we are in Christ. Play-acting is meant for the stage, not for who we are in Christ.
Be a true ambassador of Christ and not a hypocrite in service.
Good morning, God’s people.
Happy Wednesday.
