“For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:10 NKJV
Genuine salvation is not automatically inherited genetically by your descendants. Salvation is an intentional and deliberate decision to be made by an individual with the help of the Holy Spirit.
As much as this is a personal decision, there must be conscious efforts made by you to ensure your posterity is genuinely saved. This conscious effort starts with you giving your life to Christ genuinely.
“And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15 NKJV
We have had great men of God whose salvation cannot be questioned. These people were extraordinary tools used by God to perform miracles on earth, and naturally, you would think their love for God would be transferred to their children, but not all succeeded in that.
Serving in departments in church does not guarantee your salvation or that you have found God genuinely. If you doubt that, then study the lives of the children of Samuel in 1 Samuel 8:1-3. Your family members need personal encounters with God to be saved.
Yet again, we have had great men like Abraham, whose faith did not end with his death. He committed his faith to his child, and his son also walked in it, passing it on to his sons, who then committed it to their children as well. Abraham was even certified by God (Gen 18:19) that he would instruct his children in God’s way.
Teach your children the gospel of love, exemplify this love to them. Live as an example to your children by doctrine, prayer, faith, and discipline (dying to self). Lastly, instill the mindset of God in your children.
Pray: Father, with the help of the Holy Spirit, help me to walk with You till the end and also commit to my posterity the gospel of Christ, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
