We have now grown thick-skinned toward doing what is right in our families, communities, churches, workplaces, schools, and so on. We just don’t care anymore.

We tend to put the whole problem of the nation on the apex man in the country—the President—whereas some things are simply the responsibility of every citizen.

A few months ago, we had a section of our express road freshly plastered. Because of this, that side of the road was blocked, and the other side of the road was shared by both vehicles coming and going. Would you believe that not long after the road workers left, some people removed the roadblocks and started driving on the newly constructed road just a few hours after it had been done?

Just so you know, the following day, there were already potholes on the new road because some people simply did not want to be patient and get home late at night while the newly plastered road dried.

I was so infuriated by this because when we talk about how the government has done a bad job for us, no one will mention that the citizens were impatient and started destroying the road almost immediately.

We all need to start living as true believers, even in a compromised society. We must not get mixed up in the wrong things; instead, we should stand out and shun evil, no matter the cost.

As you go into this week, play your role as a true citizen of your nation wherever you are. Don’t compound problems by saying it is only the government’s responsibility.

Whatever good is within your power to do, do it.
