And it came to pass after a while, that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land.

Elijah was in the will of God, and a day came when the brook that brought him water dried up. We serve an all-powerful God. The Bible says that God can even make rivers in the desert (Isaiah 43:19–20). However, when Elijah ran out of water, God did not bring water back to the brook. Instead, God told Elijah to go to the widow.

It is foolishness to stay at the brook when God has left that place. It would have been foolish for Elijah to pray for God to open up the brook again when the will of God for that season was for a widow to take care of him.

There are so many people crying to God to open doors that He Himself has shut. There are so many people still begging God to reopen relationships that He has closed. There are also many people asking God to restore jobs that He has taken away.

God is all-powerful. He can do everything, but He will not do everything. There are seasons in your life when you must understand the truth that God is your source.

At this level, everyone who has taken the place of God in your heart will eventually disappoint you because God will not share His place with anyone.

The brook is not the source. The rivers are not the source. There is only one Source—Jehovah Jireh.

If you know Jesus as your Source, when a door closes, you remain unbothered. When a way shuts down, you keep rejoicing. You know it is not a blockage; it is a redirection.

If you must enjoy the best of God and have peace even in the midst of storms, you must know that Jehovah Jireh is your Source.
