Thus the heavens and the earth were finished , and all the host of them.

And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.

I found the answer I had been asking myself for many years.

Why would God rest?

Why Would God who doesn’t get tired decide to just rest?

I found out that God did not rest because he was tired,God did not rest to regain strength and energy. He never gets weary. God rested because there was nothing else/ left to do.

God had done everything perfectly well and there was nothing left again. There was nothing that should be done that was not done. The only thing he could do was to rest.

What does this teach us?
God did not rest before he started creating,he rested after.

There are two seasons in life,the work season and rest season. Every man must pass through these two seasons. Either compulsorily or voluntarily.

When you rest in your work season,life would compel you to work in your rest season. When you work in your work and rest season,life would compel you to rest,most times in a hospital bed.

This is why we must maximise our work season. Your rest season is not necessarily a time to sleep,after all,God did not sleep on the Sabbath. Your rest season is a season without tension or pressure. It is a season where you travel around glorifying Jesus and holidaying,evangelising and doing the works of the kingdom.

If we want to enjoy rest tomorrow,we must do all the work and get all the results today. If God looked and the earth was not perfect,he wouldn’t have rested.

If you want to play tomorrow,invest in all manners of prayers today. Your prayer is a seed,you can sow it to your tomorrow. When tomorrow comes andyou are in a position that you can’t utter words,your prayers of past years starts getting answers.

If you want to live in health tomorrow,pursue it now with your diet and prayers. If you ignore your diet today,you would be on diet in your next ( rest ) season.

There would come a time where the only thing nature would allow us do is to rest. The night cometh when no man can work. That night represents your rest season.

If we choose to substitute work for rest,when it is time to rest we would continue to work. The danger is,we may work till God calls us home or our children will take over.

The Idea of the Sabbath is not just the seventh day rest,the Sabbath also symbolises a season where the only thing that should be left for a man to do is to rest. So God rested to teach us something, maximise your today so you can rest tomorrow. In brief God was teaching us,Work Before Pleasure. Even in ministry,work before pleasure!

As we plan our lives,let us put systems that would allow us rest when the time comes.

The only assignment we do till death is propagating the gospel. There is no spiritual retirement.

May we not need to work when we ought to rest in Jesus name
