GOD’S LOVE

God’s love is not just something He does; it is His nature and the core truth of the Christian faith. 1 John 4:7–8 says:

“Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.”
1 John 4:7–8 NIV

  • From the text above, we can clearly see that God is the definition of love, and God is love. God cannot be separated from love.
  • An Unending Commitment: The Bible, in Romans 5:8 NIV, says that God demonstrated His love for us in this way: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. So, we didn’t have to choose Him or be a good child before He loved us. While we were against His will, He still loved us. That is the difference between God’s love and human love. God’s love never fades or changes, but human love can.

Differences Between God’s Love and Human Love

  1. God’s love is sacrificial, but human love can be beneficial.
  2. God’s love is unchanging, but human love can be changing and conditional.
  3. God’s love is universal. It is extended to all of humanity, even to His enemies, because He desires them to repent, and His arms are open to welcome them. Human love, however, can be limited to family, friends, those from the same community, or perhaps the same tribe.

So, as we go out today, please remember that God loves you and that you are a child of love. As the Father has loved you, please show true love today.

God bless you. Amen.
