Ephesians 2:8-9 NIV
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— [9] not by works, so that no one can boast.

Everybody that is saved is saved because of the grace of God that was so lavished on us when Jesus died for man. The Bible records that God so loved the world that he had to give his only begotten son so that salvation will be a reality and man will be reconciled back to God.

The implication of salvation being a work of grace is to prevent a situation where people begin to attribute their salvation to works and make it difficult for new converts to embrace the life of God.

No matter how spiritual you are, never forget the Bible truth that your salvation did not come through your labour or sacrifice, it came by the abundance of the love of God at no cost to you. The same way you did nothing to merit it, this is also the same way louts, thieves and everyone in sin also do not need to do anything to receive salvation except through faith.

A deep understanding of this will make us go into the street winning souls without condemnation. The Gospel is called the good news because it is a good news.

If your presentation of the gospel is in hostility and anger, it means you are misrepresenting the gospel. Nobody will tell a man he is now a millionaire with an angry face.

Paul in his teaching is showing us two platforms upon which we receive salvation, Grace and Faith. Even though Salvation came by grace ( a free gift ) you will never personalize it until you receive that which came by grace through your faith.

When you have faith in Jesus, you have made salvation your possession, you have appropriated salvation to yourself.

Faith in Jesus is also not passive but very active, as you receive salvation through faith, make sure you are working with the spirit of God so that you become changed. Jesus does not adjust people, Jesus changes people!

Go out, spread the word and teach the saving power of Jesus without bitterness, anger or condemnation. This is the only way we can win the world for Christ
