“For you will be expelled from the synagogues, and the time is coming when those who kill you will think they are doing a holy service for God.” John‬ ‭16‬:‭2‬ ‭NLT‬‬

This was Jesus speaking to his disciples when he was preparing their minds down for what was to come once he is gone. 

Just as Jesus predicted, it happened to the followers of Christ. The Jews made up a team whose main objective was to make sure Christians were killed and eradicated, but of course they failed, which is why you and I are here today.

But then, many believers were killed in this course, including Stephen, the martyr. This is not our main focus today. Our focus is on the fact that they thought and were assured within themselves, they were doing the work of God. 

I am sure after killing Stephen, they would have thought truly God was with them, because that was a major achievement for them. 

But alas, what they thought was a service to God, was what was making the Son of Man weep for such precious lives coming home too soon. 

Many believers are so busy in the house of God doing nothing, working thinking they are doing the work of God, whereas, that is not His will for you. Saul and the Pharisees thought they were doing the work of God killing the disciples, I am sure they would get home each day after massacring believers and still say “thank you God for today”. 

My Pastor once said to me when I was appointed the position of the Youth President, he said “you have to do your job in the way that pleases your employer”. Meaning that no matter what you think you might have achieved while working, if none of it satisfy your employer, it is all in vain. 

Remember, you were made for His good pleasures. 

I really want you to take a moment and think deep within your spirit, are you really rendering the service that your master will be pleased and proud of?

Prayer. 

Father, with the help of the Holy Spirit, help me that my works and services in your Kingdom pleases you in Jesus name.
