Hebrews 13:5 (NIV)
“Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.’”
Child of God, we have been looking at what it means to live a life of contentment and why we must live that way. Today, we will look at HOW TO LIVE A LIFE OF CONTENTMENT.
HOW CAN YOU LIVE A LIFE OF CONTENTMENT?
1). Be Grateful.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NKJV)
An ungrateful person will never be content. The Bible says, “In everything give thanks.” Did it say only in good times? NO, SIR. A writer once said, “Gratitude brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow.”
2). Be Disciplined.
Child of God, if you are disciplined as a believer, you can live a life of contentment. And when you live a life of contentment, God can take you anywhere. Do you know why? Because you can be trusted.
Genesis 39:7–10 (NKJV)
Understand that Joseph was very handsome, and his master’s wife must have promised him freedom and many other things if he chose to sleep with her. But the Bible records that he refused. Do you know why, sir? He was content.
Child of God, “WHATEVER GOD DOES NOT GIVE TO YOU, YOU DO NOT YET NEED IT.” Stay content.
3). Live Within Your Means.
Philippians 4:11 & 19 (NKJV)
Child of God, the problem with many believers today is that they want to show off beyond what they earn and what their salary can afford. If you do not have something, wait and work until God provides it.
And to believers visiting different spiritual houses to look for what God did not give them, I give you this advice by the rod of the apostolic: “REPENT.”
The Scripture already gives you the assurance that God will supply all your needs. Child of God, what else are you looking for?
4). Have Good and Godly Associations.
Proverbs 13:20 (NKJV)
You cannot tell me that you are a content believer while all your friends are discontented people. You are in the wrong association, sir. WAKE UP.
5). Spend Time with God.
Child of God, how do you expect to live a life of contentment apart from the One who gives life? God is the source of true contentment, and the only way to live that life is by staying with Him.
“IF YOU DO NOT SPEND TIME WITH GOD, THE DEVIL WILL SPEND TIME WITH YOU.”
How to spend time with God:
• Study your Bible.
• Pray.
A prayerless Christian will be easily deceived by the devil. Rise up; let us pray.
PRAYER POINTS
1). MY FATHER, MY FATHER, EVERY SEED OF DISCONTENTMENT IN MY FAMILY, BE ROASTED BY FIRE.
2). OH LORD, MY FATHER, I WILL NOT DESTROY MY FAMILY THROUGH DISCONTENTMENT.
