1 Timothy 6:6–7 (NKJV)

6. Now godliness with contentment is great gain.

7. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.

One of the major challenges believers face today in the Body of Christ is discontentment.

Child of God, you must know that it is not enough for a believer to be godly. The question is: Do you have contentment?

God is not just after your service to Him; He wants you to live His kind of life and reflect His attributes. One of God’s attributes is contentment.

The Bible records that Satan was once Lucifer, created by God as one of His angels. But what happened? He lacked contentment and desired to take the throne of the One who created him. The Bible says in Isaiah 14 that he conceived this desire in his heart, and as a result, he was cast out of heaven.

Child of God, it is dangerous for a believer to live a life without contentment.

I prophesy that the Lord will give you the grace to live a life of contentment, in Jesus’ name.

2 Samuel 11:1–27 (NKJV)

You can read this passage, but let me share three lessons from it.

1. Discontentment entertains distraction.

David was the king of Israel at that time, and the Bible even records that he was a man after God’s own heart. While there was war, his army was away in battle. From the rooftop of his palace, he saw Bathsheba bathing and could not take his eyes off her.

Child of God, discontentment does not only entertain distraction; it ensures that you do not overcome it.

2. Discontentment brings a king down to the level of a slave.

David made inquiries and discovered that the woman he saw was the wife of one of his soldiers.

You already have your queen. If there was a desire for intimacy, why not approach your own wife?

What makes a king reward his faithful servant by sleeping with his wife? The answer is discontentment.

Discontentment takes you from the position of a king to that of a slave.

I prophesy by the power of the living God that whatever you might do that would destroy you and your family, may you never do it, in Jesus’ mighty name.

3. Discontentment will not stop until it destroys.

David sent for Uriah, his soldier, hoping he would sleep with his wife to cover David’s sin. But Uriah, out of honor for the king, said, “I cannot go home and sleep with my wife while the battle is still raging.”

When Uriah refused, David sent him back with a letter that ultimately led to his death.

If discontentment could make a man after God’s own heart commit such terrible acts, how much more a believer who is not watchful?

Discontentment is a tool of the devil; it will not stop until it destroys you.

Child of God, godliness alone is not enough. You must have godliness with contentment.
