“For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.” 1 Timothy 6:7 (NKJV)

We started looking at living a life of contentment on Tuesday, and by the help of God, we will continue today.

Apostle Paul tells us in today’s Scripture that none of our earthly possessions counts in heaven. Therefore, by every means, we must live the life of God, which includes living a life of contentment.

Do we need money? Yes, we do.

Do we need influence? Yes, we do.

But as we walk with God, we must trust Him to provide the things we need while remaining grateful and satisfied with what He has already done for us.

The key is:

1. Be content with the house you have while you pray and trust God for a bigger one.

2. Be content with the job you have while you pray and trust Him for a better one.

WHY DO WE NEED TO LIVE A LIFE OF CONTENTMENT?

There are five reasons why we need to live a life of contentment. I will share two of them today.

1. God commands believers to be content. (Hebrews 13:5–6, NKJV)

This passage tells us to let our conduct be without covetousness. Child of God, I know you can pray, and I know you love God, but what are the thoughts of your heart? What are the things you say?

It is God’s command that every believer lives a life of contentment. Notice the promise that follows: “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” There are dimensions of God’s dealings with believers that are best experienced when we walk in contentment.

2. Contentment is great gain and gives you an advantage over the devil. (I Timothy 6:6, NKJV)

Show me a believer who has godliness with contentment, and I will show you a believer who cannot easily be deceived by the lies of the devil.

A perfect example is Jesus. He was content, and that is why, despite all the temptations and false promises the devil presented to Him after His fast, He did not fall.

Child of God, you will easily bow to the lies of the devil—both physically and spiritually—if you lack contentment.

Your major advantage over the devil as you walk with God is contentment.
