“Look, I have specifically chosen Bezalel son of Uri, grandson of Hur, of the tribe of Judah. I have filled him with the Spirit of God, giving him great wisdom, ability, and expertise in all kinds of crafts. He is a master craftsman, expert in working with gold, silver, and bronze. He is skilled in engraving and mounting gemstones and in carving wood. He is a master at every craft!” – Exodus 31:2–5 (NLT)
When we think of being filled with the Spirit of God, we often picture preaching, prophesying, or healing. But in Exodus 31, God reveals something powerful: His Spirit also equips us to work skillfully with our hands, minds, and talents.
Bezalel was chosen not for the pulpit, but for the workshop. His anointing wasn’t for a sermon, but for artistry. God gave him wisdom, ability, and expertise so that the beauty of the tabernacle would reflect the glory of heaven.
His craftsmanship was worship. His mastery was ministry. This reminds us that our skills—whether in business, teaching, writing, technology, art, or leadership—are not just natural gifts.
They are spiritual endowments when surrendered to God. The Spirit doesn’t only empower us for “church work”; He empowers us for excellent work. Every project, every task, every skill we sharpen can become a holy offering when done unto the Lord.
Do you see your skills and talents as gifts from God, filled with His Spirit? How are you developing mastery in your craft, knowing that excellence honors God? Are you using your expertise to glorify Him and bless others?
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for filling me with Your Spirit—not only for spiritual gifts but also for the skills I use every day. Help me to grow in wisdom, ability, and excellence, just as You empowered Bezalel. May my work be worship, my craft reflect Your beauty, and my mastery glorify Your name in Jesus’ name. Amen.
