Rise Up, Stand in the Gap (Part 1)

30 “And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.

31 Therefore have I poured out mine indignation upon them; I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath: their own way have I recompensed upon their heads, saith the Lord GOD.” — Ezekiel 22:30-31 (KJV)

Let me start today’s teaching with this statement: “Until some of you rise up and stand in the gap, your family may never amount to anything.”

Wake up, child of God! Enough of the unseriousness being displayed; enough of the time that has been wasted. You must emerge now and fulfill the assignment of the deliverer that God has chosen you to be—for your family and for a generation.

It is a trick of the devil that so many distractions exist in this generation. Even those whom God has appointed as deliverers for their families now find themselves in need of deliverance. This is a wake-up call! The destruction that would come upon a nation or a family if no one rises to stand in the gap would be terrible.

Many families today remain bound because there is no one to rise and stand in the gap. Sir, even for the miracles and breakthroughs that God wants to bring to a family, He needs a man. That is why, with the dry bones, as powerful as our God is, He still needed Ezekiel.

That is why Ezekiel, when recounting his experience in Ezekiel 37:7, said:

“So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone.”

He prophesied as he was commanded, which tells me that the prophecy will come—in fact, it is here already—but until there is a man to rise up and stand in the gap, it will not be fulfilled.

This is the case for many of us. God has spoken a word over your life and your family. He has spoken a word over a nation, and He is waiting for the deliverer to arise. This morning, He is saying: “Behold, I sought after a man.”

God does not need the whole nation or the whole family to save them—He needs just one man.

Where is that man?

Are you that man?

Wake up, child of God!

Good morning!
