“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed;” Luke 4:18 NKJV
This particular Bible verse is quite familiar to most of us but I believe the Holy Spirit is giving us understanding on the Anointed One. Firstly, what is Anointing itself?
The Anointing is the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit in the life of a believer. It enables the believer to understand, apply, and administer spiritual truth. In a word, the presence of The Anointing enables believers to have a spiritual connection.
The Anointing is not the pouring of oil on someone, though that is symbolic. The Anointing is not what you can see with your physical eyes but it’s works are manifested physically through healings, working of miracles and so on. Now, who has or can receive this Anointing?
Many have The Anointing, but they do not know what they carry in them, some are dead without fulfilling purpose by harnessing the power thereof. Anyone who has the Spirit of God living within has The Anointing. You receive the Spirit of God by accepting and confessing Jesus Christ as your Lord and saviour. Child of God, I boldly declare to you that you are Anointed.
Before now, you might have believed those Anointed are Apostles, Pastors, Teachers and so on. Are they Anointed? Yes, they are, but you also are Anointed.
They have over time built a strong relationship and intimacy with God by abiding and staying in HIS MAJESTY’S PRESENCE through intense worship, study and meditation of God’s word and through prayer and fasting.
Now you know you are Anointed, what do you do with the Anointing? Read this carefully;
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, and he has anointed me to be hope for the poor, healing for the brokenhearted, and new eyes for the blind, and to preach to prisoners, ‘You are set free!’ I have come to share the message of Jubilee, for the time of God’s great acceptance has begun.” Luke 4:18-19 TPT
Oh! I wish you would read that and digest it again. The Anointing makes you the hope for the poor, yet you walk around hopelessly, harness The Anointing in you.
The Anointing makes you the healing for those with broken hearts, harness this Anointing, show up and healing just flow out of you. The Anointing makes you the light in your community, makes you solution in your workplace, harness The Anointing in you and light up your world with Jesus Christ.
I am The Anointed One.
Prayer
Father, I am most grateful for your Holy Spirit within me. I ask for the grace to channel my Anointing and manifest your purpose for my life in Jesus name I have received. Amen.
