Luke 15:20–22 (NKJV)
20) “And he arose and came to his father. But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him.
21. And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight, and am no longer worthy to be called your son.’
22. “But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet.’”
Good morning, God’s people. I started a series with us last week, and I will continue this morning — The Economy of God’s Kingdom (Fathers).
Child of God, there are no guesses in this Kingdom. We fully operate on the knowledge of God. In this Kingdom, you cannot pretend to know when you do not know. If you do not know, you simply do not know — and victory, consistency, favor, and safety are not guaranteed as long as you remain in ignorance.
This morning, I will start by telling you that God can be quick to show you compassion through your father.
Many of us know the story of the prodigal son, and I will share lessons from two angles.
First, the prodigal son demanded his share of the inheritance from his father. If you study carefully, you’ll see that he no longer wanted to be around his father — or perhaps thought his father was of no use to him anymore.
It is impossible for any child to think in this manner and succeed, or even have long life.
You can see that even God has structured His economy such that He allows us to have fathers for submission and mentorship. It is the wisdom of fathers that gives us long life and everything we can build upon. You only come into that level of wisdom by honor.
I tell you by the mercy of God that the life of the prodigal son could have been better had he known this wisdom principle.
You will never make it in this Kingdom without reverence for fathers.
Secondly, when the prodigal son realized his mistake — allow me to say this — only fathers can do what his father did. If you read through the devotional yesterday, we were taught that fathers are kings; they don’t lament — they act.
Child of God, compassion, restoration, and forgiveness from God will be difficult if you do not have a father.
Many of you are where you are today because the coverage that God can leverage on for you — fathers — is not present in your life.
Wake up, Child of God!
Do you have a father?
Who is your father?
Do you honor your father?
Does God know your father?
Let me leave you with this: Never, ever get to the point where you no longer honor or respect your father. No matter what it is, God will never understand you.
There is God’s economy — and these principles, even God respects.
Good morning.
