“God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God.” Ephesians 2:8 NLT
Many Christians make light of their Christian calling. Very few make a success of growing in grace, while many are not progressive at all. God gives grace to believers to be set free from sin – “When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the obligation to do right. But now you are free from the power of sin and have become slaves of God. Now you do those things that lead to holiness and result in eternal life.” Romans 6:20, 22 NLT
Grace in it’s fullest definition is God’s unmerited favour in the gift of His Son, who offers salvation to all and who gives to those who receive Him as their personal saviour.
God give grace to believers to will and act according to His good purpose. So, we must avoid anything that would wreck our Christian race. Here are few things to help grow in God’s grace:
We must avoid whatever would lead us to doubt God’s eternal existence.
We must deny all affections and appetite that are not to the glory of God.
“When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.” Galatians 5:19-21 NLT
We must not abuse His grace by intentionally and continually living in sin because we know God abounds in grace and would forgive anytime we come back to Him.
Maintaining a cordial relationship with the Holy Spirit through studying of the word of God and prayer.
Prayer.
Father, help me to grow in your grace which you have shown and given to me. Help me never to abuse your grace in me in Jesus name. Amen.
