THE MAN WHO SERVES
“For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.” — Mark 10:45 (KJV)
Child of God, one of the qualities God looks for in a man He intends to use is a heart of service. In God’s kingdom, greatness is not measured by titles or positions, but by your willingness to serve others.
Jesus Christ, though He was Lord and Master, humbled Himself to serve. If you desire to be lifted by God, you must learn to serve faithfully, even when nobody is watching.
1). SERVICE IS THE PATHWAY TO TRUE GREATNESS
Mark 10:43 (KJV)
“But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister.”
Jesus taught that whoever desires to be great must be willing to serve. Leadership is not merely about giving instructions; it is also about meeting needs and accepting responsibility.
Do not wait until you occupy a position before you begin to serve. In God’s kingdom, the way up begins with a heart willing to serve.
2). GOD VALUES FAITHFULNESS IN SMALL ASSIGNMENTS
Luke 16:10 (KJV)
“He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.”
Many people desire great responsibilities but neglect the small ones already in their hands. Before David became king, he faithfully tended his father’s sheep. Never despise small assignments; be diligent and faithful in whatever you have been asked to do.
A man who cannot be trusted with little should not assume he is ready for much.
3). THE MAN WHO SERVES MUST BE HUMBLE
John 13:14–15 (KJV)
Jesus demonstrated humility by washing His disciples’ feet. Though He was their Lord and Master, He took the position of a servant and taught them to follow His example.
Pride makes a person believe that certain responsibilities are beneath them, but humility recognises that no sincere act of service is wasted.
Serve without constantly seeking praise, accept correction when necessary, and never allow your title to make you feel superior to others. A heart of service is revealed not only by what you do, but also by the attitude with which you do it.
4). YOUR SERVICE MUST BE UNTO GOD
Colossians 3:23 (KJV)
“And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;”
Sometimes, you serve faithfully and nobody appreciates you. If your service depends entirely on human praise, you may become discouraged.
Paul reminds us that whatever we do should be done wholeheartedly, as unto the Lord. Continue to serve with sincerity, maintain healthy boundaries, and remember why you began.
When your service is unto God, the absence of human applause does not have to destroy your commitment.
“REMEMBER THAT THE GOAL IS NOT MERELY TO BE LIFTED ABOVE OTHERS, BUT TO BECOME SOMEONE GOD CAN USE TO LIFT AND BLESS OTHERS” Every believer must remember this.
