“Sing to God, sing praises to His name; Extol Him who rides on the clouds, By His name Yah, And rejoice before Him.” Psalms 68:4 NKJV.
Jehovah is a name used for God throughout Scripture. It is the English translation for the divine Hebrew name which we pronounce YAHWEH. Jehovah is often combined with another name to reveal more about His character.
There are many names and still they have no effect. The name YAHWEH, means the ‘self existing one, eternal one’. Back then, names are significant as they reflect the character of the bearer.
“But Moses protested, “If I go to the people of Israel and tell them, ‘The God of your ancestors has sent me to you,’ they will ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what should I tell them?” God replied to Moses, “I Am Who I Am. Say this to the people of Israel: I Am has sent me to you.” God also said to Moses, “Say this to the people of Israel: Yahweh, the God of your ancestors—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob—has sent me to you. This is my eternal name, my name to remember for all generations.” Exodus 3:13-15 NLT.
The fact that God introduces himself to us as “YAHWEH” tells us that his first priority in relating to us is making sure we know that he is the intensely personal God, seeking to have a personal relationship with his people.
This is why you see that every other name that has been added to the name YAHWEH were all birthed through personal encounters.
Names like Jehovah Jireh: the LORD our provider. Genesis 22:14 “So Abraham called the name of that place, “The LORD will provide”; as it is said to this day, “On the mount of the LORD it shall be provided.”
Jehovah Rapha: the LORD our healer. Exodus 15:26 “Saying, “If you will diligently listen to the voice of the LORD your God, and do that which is right in his eyes, and give ear to his commandments and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you that I put on the Egyptians, for I am the LORD, your healer.”
Jehovah Raah: the LORD our shepherd. Psalms 23:1 “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.”
Jehovah Shallom: the LORD our peace. Judges 6:24 “Then Gideon built an altar there to the LORD and called it, The LORD Is Peace. To this day it still stands at Ophrah, which belongs to the Abiezrites.” and so many more.
The name of YAHWEH is multidimensional, in whatsoever situation or difficulty, call Him and He will show up for you. I have known Him to be my strength El-Sali. What have you in time found YAHWEH to be to you personally?
Seek for an encounter with YAHWEH now.
