Hebrews 6:20 KJV
whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
The concepts of priests and priesthood is not Novel in bible history or strange in the scripture.
Priests were primarily responsible for the offering of sacrifices on behalf of the people before God. They stood on behalf of men before God and on behalf of God before men.
So everytime you see in scripture that the people had committed a sin, they would always present a sacrifice before a priest who would in turn sacrifice it unto God. This was the norm for the Jews
Leviticus 6:10-12 AMPC
[10] And the priest shall put on his linen garment and put his linen breeches on his body, and take up the ashes of what the fire has consumed with the burnt offering on the altar and put them beside the altar. [11] And he shall put off his garments and put on other garments, and carry the ashes outside the camp to a clean place. [12] And the fire upon the altar shall be kept burning on it; it shall not be allowed to go out. The priest shall burn wood on it every morning and lay the burnt offering in order upon it and he shall burn on it the fat of the peace offerings.
Asides the fact that you must bring an offering, there are requirements for that offering
Leviticus 4:32 AMPC
If he brings a lamb as his sin offering, he shall bring a female without blemish.
We have established that sacrifices were offered by the priests and the sacrifice to be offered had to be spotless and without blemish.
These priests were according to the bible should be the descendants of Levi, one of the sons of Jacob
Numbers 18:26 NLT
[26] “Give these instructions to the Levites: When you receive from the people of Israel the tithes I have assigned as your allotment, give a tenth of the tithes you receive—a tithe of the tithe—to the Lord as a sacred offering.
The Levites were so into priesthood that an entire book of the Bible studied the Levitical priesthood.
King Saul felt he was king and he could go ahead to offer sacrifices without priesthood and he got judgment for it.
Later on in scripture, we see that Jesus, though from the tribe of Judah, came into priesthood, and not an ordinary priesthood, he was a high priest. The high priests were the ones who could come into the most sacred place, the holy of hollies.
The reason why Jesus even though was not a levi could be a high priest was because his priesthood was after the order of Melchizedek. The priesthood of Melchizedek was not a Levitical priesthood, it was divine ordination.
The priesthood of Jesus is not a Levitical priesthood, it is a divine ordination.
The Levitical priests would go into the holy of hollies once a year with the blood of animals to do atonement
But, Jesus, our high priest went into the chambers of God, with his own blood, once and for all to atone for our sins!
Jesus is both for us a priest and the sacrifice.
Hebrews 9:12 NLT
[12] With his own blood—not the blood of goats and calves—he entered the Most Holy Place once for all time and secured our redemption forever.
This is the victory we have through Jesus, he is our perfect mediator, the excellency of priesthood.
The same way Melchizedek gave bread and wine, this is how Jesus gave his body and blood.
Jesus is king whose kingdom is forever. Jesus is priest whose priesthood is forever!
The bible says the lamb must be spotless and just before Jesus would pay the price for sin the devil, the accuser and the exam invigilator came.
He came to Jesus, he checked Jesus, he examined Jesus, he was looking for blame, he was looking for spots, he was looking for dent, but glory to Jesus, the devil found nothing!
John 14:30 KJV
[30] Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.
Jesus was and is our perfect lamb, he is the one accepted, he is our perfect sacrifice!
Our salvation is complete in him!
As we approach Easter, this is a call to as many that has not encountered Jesus,
The blood of Jesus covers you, it covers your unrighteousness, receive of that blood and walk in his righteousness!
Till we arrive at the point of the full manifestation of what God has said concerning us, we will continue to share some of these things as we journey.
The Shift Has Come
