“When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.” — Proverbs 11:2 (NIV)
Today, we continue our series on the wisdom of God by looking at humility.
Sir, I would like to start this morning by saying that anyone who is not humble truly lacks the wisdom of God.
Humility is the solid foundation of all virtues. We come closest to greatness when we are great in humility.
The General Superintendent reminds me each time I am privileged, by God’s grace, to speak with him that if we want to last long and stay relevant in this kingdom, especially in the days of power, we must be humble.
You see many believers today who truly love the Lord, who have genuinely tasted His power, but still struggle with humility. This is because humility cannot be imparted; it takes the wisdom of God to be humble.
My Bible tells me in 1 Peter 5:6, “Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, so that at the proper time he may exalt you.” So, sir, from this scripture, you can see that one reason we may not have succeeded could be a lack of the wisdom of God through humility.
Despite how much you pray and love the Lord, if pride remains, others may still hesitate to help or work with you. We must remember the scripture that says God resists the proud. If God resists the proud, no one else will even see or be able to help them.
Yes, you may be a good person, yes, you care for people, yes, you are funny, but lacking the wisdom of God through humility can be a stumbling block to your rise in this kingdom. If you wish to rise in the kingdom and consistently stay at the top, you need the wisdom of God through humility.
God never uses the proud, which is why, if you look at the great men of God whom He continues to use, you will see that humility is the bedrock of their walk with Him.
Sir, in the long run, today’s devotion may reveal that no devil is after your case but pride.
Ask God for the wisdom to stay humble, as that may be the answer to your prayers.
Good morning.
