A wise son heeds and accepts [and is the result of] his father’s discipline and instruction, but a scoffer does not listen to reprimand and does not learn from his errors.
Proverbs 13:1 (AMP)
It’s been a refreshing time studying the wisdom of God together, and today, we continue by exploring the wisdom of God through obedience.
One of the most difficult assignments for believers is obedience. Many of us today truly do not possess the wisdom of God through obedience. Instead, we often carry out instructions merely to avoid punishment.
God’s promises are all tied to obedience. Let me emphasize that God rewards genuine obedience.
When we started this series, I mentioned that we cannot fake the wisdom of God. If you truly have it, the signs will follow; if you don’t, the lack of signs will reveal that as well.
If many of us genuinely obeyed from the heart—like we claim to do in church or when assignments are given—the rewards would surely follow. However, we often miss out on rewards because we don’t have the wisdom of God through true obedience. Some of us only complete assignments out of fear of punishment or due to the person assigning the task.
The wisdom of God through obedience must be a way of life for every believer. Regardless of the instruction or the person giving it, we must obey in holiness and sincerity.
Sadly, much of the obedience seen among believers today is mere eye service. Outside church or away from our leaders, we behave terribly.
How can you claim to have the wisdom of God through obedience if you only obey in church or around your leaders, but at home, your parents cannot even get you to listen?
Let us stop pretending. God rewards genuine obedience. Don’t confuse others, causing them to wonder why a seemingly “obedient” brother or sister is not rewarded, not realizing that it is mere eye service.
Believers, Change.
Some of us have been assigned tasks in our groups, but we ignore them. Yet, when the General Superintendent (GS) comes to do the same thing, we suddenly rush to respond. Let me tell you this morning, that is not obedience.
Believers, I urge you again this morning to change. Let us ask for the wisdom of God through obedience.
Many of us read the Scriptures more than others. Many of us post daily Scriptures more than others. Yet, very few of us actually possess the wisdom of God to obey what we ourselves post.
Some of us frequently share posts related to other churches, which is not a problem. But why does posting your own church’s activities, videos, quotes, or devotions become an issue—even after you’ve been instructed to do so? How can you claim to have the wisdom of God to obey and still desire the covenant and blessings tied to the mission?
Wake up.
You say you love your church.
You say you love Divine Christian Assembly.
You claim to be an ambassador of Christ.
Yet, you cannot carry out the instructions laid down by the church?
May the Lord help us in Jesus’ name.
Note: Great men who have the capacity to build also have the wisdom of God to obey.
