The Wisdom of God (Thanksgiving)

“Jesus then took the barley loaves and the fish and gave thanks to God. He then gave it to the disciples to distribute to the people. Miraculously, the food multiplied, with everyone eating as much as they wanted!” ‭‭John‬ ‭6‬:‭11‬ ‭TPT‬‬

We continue our series on the wisdom of God today as we focus on Thanksgiving.

I had planned to discuss something entirely different today, but God spoke to me this morning and directed me to talk about thanksgiving. I am very sure there is a breakthrough for someone in today’s message.

Sir, it is a very wise thing to give thanks to God—to show gratitude to God, to men of God, to your parents, and to everyone that God has used in any capacity to help and bless you.

A lot of people today lack the wisdom of God when it comes to giving thanks. Sir, as far as the issues of your life are concerned, nothing just happens. It is not “normal”; it is God’s work. Who told you that waking up is a normal thing? Who told you that being able to laugh, smile, eat, and walk is a normal thing? Many of us fail to bless God for these things, and it is because we lack the wisdom of God.

Jesus Christ understood the importance of thanksgiving, and He always did what was necessary. Sir, if you lack the wisdom of God for thanksgiving, it will be difficult to access the miraculous. Humanly speaking, who would want to continue helping someone who is not wise enough to give thanks?

Let us consider our General Superintendent, his wife, Pastor Tobi, and Pastor Tope. On Thanksgiving Sunday, their very appearance—especially their dressing—speaks volumes about their gratitude to God. Not because He has done everything they want, but because they have the wisdom of God for thanksgiving.

The wisdom of God for thanksgiving is not tied to the fact that God has done everything we desire; it is rooted in the truth that God can do it again and again. Even if He chooses not to do it, we must still give Him thanks and praise.

Jesus Christ always gave thanks before His prayers and requests because He understood the wisdom of God in thanksgiving.

I am confident God changed today’s message because He needs to speak to someone—and it may be you, sir.

Go back to your closet, or even in the open, and give God the praise. Say, “Thank You, Jesus.” Call Him sweet names.

Who is ready with me this morning to activate the wisdom of God for thanksgiving and give Him the praise He deserves today?

Let me start with a Yoruba song, and you will continue:

“Oun te se ma yami l’enu o Baba, oun te se ma yami l’enu o Jesu.
E nu omije mi nu, e so ekun mi derin.
Oun te se ma yami l’enu Baba.”

God wants to answer the long-standing prayers of someone today—the ones you have been crying about. But today, He desires your praises.
