“And the Lord said to Joshua: ’See! I have given Jericho into your hand, its king, and the mighty men of valor. You shall march around the city, all you men of war; you shall go all around the city once. This you shall do six days.’” – Joshua 6:2–3 (NKJV)
When Joshua stood before the walls of Jericho, what he saw in the natural was a fortified city, shut up tight, guarded by strong warriors. Yet what God declared to him was completely different: “See! I have given Jericho into your hand.”
Notice the tense—God didn’t say, “I will give” but “I have given.” Before Joshua’s men ever lifted a sword, before a trumpet sounded, before a single stone fell from Jericho’s walls, God declared the victory was already theirs.
This teaches us a powerful truth: God’s promises are settled before we see them fulfilled. Faith is not about waiting until the walls fall to believe; it’s about trusting God’s word when the walls are still standing tall.
But God also gave Joshua instructions that didn’t make sense from a human perspective—march around the city once a day for six days. No immediate results. No crumbling walls. Just obedience and trust. The real battle wasn’t with Jericho’s soldiers; it was with doubt, impatience, and fear.
In our lives, Jericho represents the obstacles that look too big to overcome—addictions, fears, broken relationships, financial struggles, or unanswered prayers. God says to us today what He said to Joshua: “See! I have already given you the victory.” The question is, will we walk in faith even when we don’t see immediate change?
How is God asking you to walk in obedience, even when you don’t see progress yet? Do you believe that God’s word is true even before the walls fall?
Prayer:
Lord, help me to see with eyes of faith, not just with my natural eyes. Remind me that the victory is already secured in You. Teach me to walk in daily obedience and trust, even when I don’t see immediate results. I believe that You are faithful, and that every wall in my life must fall in Your timing. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
