“For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.” – Proverbs 23:7a (NKJV)
In Part One, we looked at the call to not conform to this world but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. Standing your ground in righteousness, being the change and taking responsibility rather than taking the shortcuts. Part Two takes us deeper into that process.
Most people simply follow the crowd. They adopt popular opinions, absorb social media trends, and allow culture to shape their values. It’s what everyone does — go along to get along. But as followers of Christ, we are called to think differently, because transformation doesn’t just happen around us — it happens within us. Proverbs 23:7 reminds us that our thoughts ultimately shape our identity: “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.”
What everyone does is react based on emotions, act on impulse, and pursue comfort. But God calls us to live with intentionality — governed by truth, not trends. To renew your mind means to filter your thoughts through the lens of Scripture, and to allow God’s truth to uproot old thought patterns and plant new ones rooted in grace, faith, and purpose.
When you stop doing what everyone else does, and start aligning your inner world with God’s Word, you begin to walk in discernment. You gain clarity about His “good and acceptable and perfect will.” You don’t just exist — you live transformed.
So ask yourself:
• What thought patterns have I allowed that reflect the world instead of the Word?
• In what ways have I been following the crowd instead of following Christ?
Let God renew your mind daily, and soon you’ll see — you’re not just different from the world, you’re aligned with heaven.
