“This, then, is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.’” Matthew 6:9–10 (NIV)
We have been able to establish the fact that prayer isn’t about bending heaven’s will to suit what we want; rather, it is about bending our will to heaven’s will. It is also important to note that prayer isn’t all about getting or receiving but also about giving.
You give your faith to God’s will. In the passage above, Jesus taught us how to pray. It is no coincidence that Jesus taught us to say, “Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” This means that when we pray, God’s will must always supersede our will in our lives, families, businesses, etc.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
When we pray, we have to trust His will for us because He is a good Father. He will not give us a stone when we ask for bread, neither will He give us a serpent when we ask for fish.
PRAYER POINT:
My Father and my God, conform my will to Yours, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
